Dr. Eng. Farid Afshar is a Senior Fracture Mechanics and Corrosion Engineer at 天美传媒 with expertise, particularly in fracture mechanics and engineering critical assessment for the energy industry.

Dr. Eng. Farid Afshar (CEng) is a Senior Fracture Mechanics and Corrosion Engineer at 天美传媒. For more than a decade, he has showcased his technical leadership, particularly in fracture mechanics and engineering critical assessment within mainland Europe.

Experience/Industry experience

Farid is the technical lead of fracture mechanics and engineering assessment, working within the energy industry with expertise in fracture mechanics, corrosion and electrochemistry, materials science and engineering, and a thorough knowledge of engineering practices, codes, standards, and specifications with particular emphasis on welded material.

Among other responsibilities Farid is the technical lead of the development and implementation of the company鈥檚 strategy for hydrogen-related initiatives across 天美传媒 developing testing and characterization of materials in gaseous hydrogen, contributing to building effective relationships with key players in the market, research institutes, and energy organizations as well as identification of the development opportunities and delivery of projects.

Career highlights

After graduating in 2004 with a BSc in Safety and Technical Inspection Engineering from Petroleum University of Technology in Iran, Farid started his career as a Corrosion and Inspection Engineer at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

Farid later joined Shell as a Materials Engineer and progressed to the Materials innovation institute M2i where he worked for four years as a Researcher developing cost-effective, corrosion-resistant aluminum brazing sheet material. Parallel to his work he achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (鈥渃um laude鈥) from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

After completing his Ph.D. program in 2013, Farid has been working in the industry as a Fracture Mechanics and corrosion Engineer for 天美传媒 in Breda, Netherlands.
