Stephen has over 20 years’ experience conducting air quality, noise and vibration assessments for large scale transportation, industrial, commercial, and residential developments.

Stephen specializes in environmental noise and vibration and has provided support with the delivery of environmental submissions for major infrastructure, energy, and mining schemes in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.

Experience

Stephen is extensively involved in the delivery of the Technical Teams’ Air Dispersion Modelling and Acoustic Camera Surveys.

Stephen has provided support on numerous high-profile projects both in the UK and internationally. He has detailed knowledge of relevant noise, air quality, and odour legislation and standards and a particular specialism offered are Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and acoustic camera surveys for licensed/permitted installations and infrastructural noise and vibration problems in a myriad of sectors.

He has demonstratable experience in managing complex technical issues and finding appropriate solutions, an example being his involvement in the proposed Brent Cross rail aggregate facility.

Career highlights

  • As technical lead, Stephen was involved with HS2 Phase 1 reviewing colleagues' input and providing separate work associated with noise barriers, bunds, and viaduct noise and vibration.

  • Providing technical assistance on Planning Inspectorate consents for numerous renewable and port infrastructure schemes.

  • Achieving consent for a potash mine located in a National Park, materials transfer tunnel, material handling facility, and associated port infrastructure.

  • Experience preparing environmental impact assessments for infrastructure schemes, providing oral and written evidence to planning inquiries, assisting with PINS submissions, and pre-consent protective provisions work for existing stakeholder assets.  

  • Proven communication skills and ability to manage workloads in harsh time constraints on major infrastructure projects.

  • Significant experience supporting other technical specialists undertaking the environmental assessment.
